Pro-Trump activists who say they are in coordination with the White House are circulating a 17-page draft executive order that claims China interfered in the 2020 election as a basis to declare a national emergency that would unlock extraordinary presidential power over voting. President Donald Trump has repeatedly previewed a plan to mandate voter ID and ban mail ballots in November’s midterm elections, and the activists expect their draft will figure into Trump’s promised executive order on t ...

Hillary Clinton's opening statement to House Oversight Committee

(Hillary Clinton) "As we all know ... too often Congressional investigations are partisan political theater, which is an abdication of duty and an insult to the American people. The Committee justified its subpoena to me based on its assumption that I have information regarding the investigations into the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Let me be as clear as I can. I do not."

Republicans Dragged Hillary Clinton Back Into the Spotlight. They're Going to Regret It.

(Daily Beast) If you’ve noticed Hillary Clinton everywhere again, it’s not because she has launched a comeback tour. It’s because Republicans still just cannot quit her. Despite the fact that she is not mentioned in the “Epstein files,” House Oversight Chair James Comer has subpoenaed her to testify today. (Her husband, Bill Clinton, will testify tomorrow.) It seems Republicans believe that Clinton can provide a distraction—or at least a new punching bag—in the scandal that has dogged the Trump administration for months. In forcing Clinton back into the spotlight, Republicans may have accidentally handed Democrats a gift.

Justice Department says it's reviewing whether any Epstein-related records were mistakenly withheld

(AP) The Justice Department said Wednesday that it was looking into whether it had improperly withheld documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files after several news organizations reported that some records involving uncorroborated accusations made by a woman against President Donald Trump were not among those released to the public. The announcement followed news reports saying that a massive tranche of records released by the Justice Department did not include several summaries of interviews that the FBI conducted with an unidentified woman who came forward after Epstein’s 2019 arrest and claimed to have been sexually assaulted by both Trump and Epstein when she was a minor in the 1980s.

Republicans are freaking out over Texas Senate race

(Politico) With just days until Texas’ primary, Republicans in Washington are growing more alarmed that their increasingly vicious intraparty contest could cost them a must-win Senate seat. Sen. John Cornyn appears to be headed to an expensive and nasty 10-week runoff against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, with a strong chance that Paxton wins the nomination even after national Republicans spent months airing his dirty laundry all over the Texas airwaves in an effort to boost Cornyn.
