(17,349 posts)and you did a great job 'finding' them - but those responses were not 'headlines' on the MSM - and that is CERTAINLY part of the problem.
We need to hear MORE from those that are considered 'Leadership' of the party. We are hearing from President Obama - but it is a 'tough-love' message, as Charlie Pierce of Esquire calls it:
Theres been, I gather, some argument between the left of the party and people who are promoting the quote-unquote abundance agenda. Listen, those things are not contradictory. You want to deliver for people and make their lives better? You got to figure out how to do it, he said. I dont care how much you love working people. They cant afford a house because all the rules in your state make it prohibitive to build. And zoning prevents multifamily structures because of NIMBY, he said, referring to not in my backyard views. I dont want to know your ideology, because you cant build anything. It does not matter.
The abundance agenda is the latest style in sheeps clothing cut to fit whats left of the old Democratic Leadership Conference philosophy. The donor class of the Democratic party loves the hell out of this thing because it promises ... wait for it ... deregulation, especially in the housing sector. (I might suggest a chat soon with the people who bought the houses on the overbuilt banks of the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas.) Its hard not to look at the political potential of the abundance agenda as a weapon to blunt the genuine populism bubbling up beneath the surface. And while its all the rage with the cocktail-party set among the Democrats, there probably arent 25 people outside the Beltway who ever have heard of it.
I never will understand Obamas long periods of being hors de combat while the vandals took over the government. Imagine if Obama had been out there, hammering away with all his undoubted political skill. Imagine if hed aimed it all at Republicans.
You are SO right - some get more 'press' than others - and that is a problem that goes back to the 2016 campaign if not before. It DOES seem to be a bias - why just AOC but not Swalwell, Lieu, or Ossoff? And isn't that the point?
We need more 'GOOD TROUBLE!' We need to make enough noise that the MSM DOES have to report it even if it goes against their own corporate bias regarding how they cover things. We're not making enough noise - not hearing enough from a strong party leadership that is willing to stand up and fight the Orange Devil - not be lambs like those in his own party that KNOW he's wrong.
We're on the same team - we need a unified fight!
