I mean, there has been some discussion around undocumented workers who use false SS#’s to get hired, but IIRC, there is software or was a government system available to vet these numbers, but of course, it was voluntary, with no penalties for taking the worker’s word for it.

Otherwise, the media is largely silent, and the politicians of both parties seem to have duct tape over their mouths on this issue.
