The cure to stop illegal immigration is to prosecute employers who hire undocumented people at sub-standard wages.
Our immigration crisis was caused by greed, by people who could afford to pay workers a decent wage.
ICE, DHS, HSI, Prince's thugs, should be arresting employers and once there are no more jobs for undocumented workers, they will stop coming or Congress will create a pathway for them to work here.
Employers make out like bandits, sub-par wages and no benefits. Take away undocumented workers at meat packing plants, farms, hotels, construction and there will be screams to high heaven for Congress to come up with a comprehensive immigration program.
Krasnov hired undocumented workers, he hired a crew that traveled between his properties, probably still uses those workers. ICE should raid Krasnov properties and if it finds illegal workers, arrest Krasnov.
That poor dairy farmer in Vermont who was crying in the news lately should be arrested.

(15,190 posts)Once employers realize they are facing severe consequences for hiring undocumented workers, they will fire them immediately or risk jail. In fact, they would likely fire anyone who they suspected might be illegal and using fraudulent documents.
Doing so would result in workers (some here for decades) being unemployable. They will either decide to self deport or risk poverty, homelessness and hunger for their families.
That would also level the playing field for those employers who are following the rules by paying those here legally, decent wages, benefits, and paying unemployment, workman's comp & payroll taxes while trying to compete with those who aren't.

(327 posts)The government is allowing the employers to use the system to treat immigrants trying to feed their families as a cheap disposable workforce. They don't dare complain about working conditions, safety, or report injuries. They're constantly living in fear of being exposed to deportation by the very bosses who are exploiting their abilities.

(303 posts)Bankrupt Tyson Chicken with heavy fines and threaten the CEO with prison (ie make an example out of a large company known to be violating federal immigration law). Once this nation removes the incentives, the flow will stop on its own.

(19,399 posts)I mean, there has been some discussion around undocumented workers who use false SS#s to get hired, but IIRC, there is software or was a government system available to vet these numbers, but of course, it was voluntary, with no penalties for taking the workers word for it.
Otherwise, the media is largely silent, and the politicians of both parties seem to have duct tape over their mouths on this issue.
