In reply to the discussion: Fetterman Says He's Being Shamed Into Showing Up , his mental health issues have been weaponized against him [View all]pinkstarburst
(1,786 posts)21. If he is no longer able to do the job, he should resign
and allow the governor to appoint a replacement who is willing to show up for all the procedural votes and everything else his job entails. He's being paid $200K per year for 100 days of showing up and gets an amazing health insurance plan. If the travel schedule is not something he wants to deal with, he should resign and allow Shapiro to appoint someone else until a special election can be held.
That isn't "weaponizing his diagnosis." That's him being unwilling to do his job.
Skipping votes because you'd rather be at "daddy and daughter date night" when you're being paid $200K per year to be there for those votes is not okay.

OP
If his mental health issues keep him from being in the Senate, he needs to resign.

Other highly-qualified and willing-to-work people would take over if you would step aside.

He can retire if he feels that he can't or doesn't want to do the job anymore.
