The Brookings County Sheriff's Office is investigating a bow hunting accident that resulted in the death of a 62-year-old man. ... The incident was reported around 8:48 a.m. Friday in a field west of 482nd Avenue and south of 205th Street in White, according to a release by the sheriff's office. Two men that were bow hunting turkeys were involved in a hunting accident.

The sheriff's office said Mark Steinborn, 62, of Sioux Falls, had been accidently shot with an arrow by his son Gabriel Steinborn, 29, also of Sioux Falls. Life saving measures were attempted at the scene, but were unsuccessful, the release said. ... White Ambulance, Brookings Ambulance, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, and Brookings County Sheriffs Office all responded to the hunting accident.
Steinborn spent years as a nurse anesthetist in Sioux Falls. He also served on the Sioux Falls Parks Board and was a board member of the Rich Greeno Memorial and most recently supported the COVID-19 unit at Avera Health, according to his obituary.
