3. It's sadly virtually impossible

Aside from the fact that my favorite all-round hunting rifle is an "assault weapon" and more or less banned, even getting my completely innocuous bolt-action rifle up here is an immense hassle. NYC expects me to pay $240 and go through an intensely convoluted licensing and registration process, in person, on a weekday. So much for "respecting hunters"...it's literally cheaper to store them in the safe in LA and fly down there once a year.
