Libraries pay for books they make available. They take books and scan them and are not paying royalties for their use.
They do some good at making otherwise unavailable stuff available, and their live music archive is great, but I know several prominent authors whose work is being illegally shared on the site - and that’s the basis of the lawsuit. They are sharing copyrighted material without permission.
