8. I haven't run my AC yet so far (Minneapolis). Latest bill: $52

I do fine with a fan, sometimes two are on. In past years I've occasionally opened the patio doors on the east side and windows on both sides upstairs and have my big box fan blow cool early morning air thru the house for about 30 minutes. It hasn't been necessary or worth the effort this year, so far.

But every time I step outside, I hear my neighbors' AC units running.
