Driver kills a cyclist, injures two others
Anne Arundel County police say the driver of a GMC Yukon on East College Parkway near Bay Head Road in Annapolis crossed Sunday into a group of seven cyclists riding on the ridge edge of the roadway, killing Arthur Herbert Carter Jr., 59, and injuring two other cyclists.

Anne Arundel County police say the driver of SUV crossed into a lane full of bicyclists on a Sunday ride to Sandy Point State Park, killing a 59-year-old from Hanover.
Arthur Herbert Carter Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash after police responded to East College Parkway near Bay Head Road. Another cyclist, Jeffrey Michael Adler, 58, of Pasadena suffered life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.
A third cyclist in the group, Kathleen Anne Haye, 21 of Columbia, suffered minor injuries.
The cyclists were struck by a GMC Yukon driven by Carl Leslie Behler, 67, of Annapolis, police said. He was eastbound on East College Parkway in the area of Bay Head Road, police said. The group of bicyclists was riding westbound on East College Parkway. The cyclists were riding on the ridge edge of the roadway since there was no shoulder, police said.
