Robin Dunn (Bonneville County Jail).
A defense lawyer who spent 35 years as prosecutor in Idaho admitted to smuggling drugs into a county jail and agreed that he abused a position of trust by using his position as an attorney to further his drug trafficking activities, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office.
Robin Dwain Dunn, 69, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. Prosecutors say investigators with the Drug Enforcement Administration received information from several sources that there was an attorney bringing drugs into the Jefferson County Jail. The investigation would lead them to Dunn, the man who served as the countys prosecutor. He was also accused of smuggling drugs through clients into the Bonneville County Jail.
Cops arrested Dunn on Feb. 18, 2023. He had more than 55 fentanyl pills on him and was with a client turned lover at the time, documents say. The East Idaho News reported someone called the Idaho Falls police to say there was a woman in the drivers seat of a car who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Dunn, who was in the passenger seat of the gar, reportedly identified himself as the womans lawyer. Cops took him to jail on local charges, but those were dismissed after he was indicted in federal court.
Feds recovered the womans cellphone, which apparently contained text messages between the two discussing going to Salt Lake City to buy drugs so they could bring them back to Idaho to distribute, per documents. The texts discussed profits and the client said she did not want to again get hooked on pills.
