Kathy Bates, the award-winning actress, has lymphedema, a painful condition that causes swelling in the arms or legs:

Bates developed lymphedema after breast cancer surgery and lymph node removal. She has spoken publicly about her experience with lymphedema and is a national spokesperson for the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN). Bates has said that she has found ways to control her lymphedema...
