14. This IS the true face of modern conservatism. Has been for at LEAST a fucking decade, if not more.

The mask is off. Anyone who still considers themselves a Republican for whatever fucking reason--especially after 1/6/21, which should have been the end of it all--and is not an authoritarian is on the fringes of the party (not to mention divorced from reality and completely and utterly fucking irrelevant). Being "mainstream" has nothing to do with the severity of your views, only how common they are. "MAGA" is the mainstream in the Republican Party. Anyone who still doubts that after everything that's happened over the last 10 years has not been paying fucking attention.

That is the reason why the overwhelming majority of Republicans believed Biden didn't win in 2020. That is the reason why Trump wasn't kicked off the ballot in this last election cycle despite multiple courts acknowledging that he participated in an insurrection. His "brand" of conservatism is just that popular with them. Why? Because it is what they fucking want, what most of them have always wanted. And now they are getting to live the dream, regardless of whether or not the finer details of its execution are everything they imagined in their uninformed, reactionary, dumbass heads.

While I respect Raskin and I can see what he's trying to do (despite completely disagreeing with it), the time to make these kinds of distinctions has long passed. It's fucking 2025, and we all live under fascism now. The time for mealy-mouthed bullshit is over.
