13. What people "voted for."

What people say they voted for in polls is almost meaningless in my estimation. The responses are often plucked from a list or represent the last thing they heard from a friend or on tv. The real issue is what people will tolerate without taking action. If you ask people if they voted for the suspension of due process or habeas corpus and if they approve of a lawless administration they will either dispute the facts or say no. The Republicans that say no should not be expected to therefore stop voting Republican. Most of them are psychologically and morally disconnected from the consequences of their actions. That rupture is old news at this point.
