(12,203 posts)It is illegal to murder people even if they are drug runners.
I have been involved with drug interdiction in the Navy and we never murdered anyone.
As of 22 October, at least 37 people have been killed, seven in the Caribbean and two in the Pacific. The legality of the killings are seriously questionable under both US law and international law. Colombia and Venezuela have accused the US of extrajudicial murder.
Trump has turned the Navy into nothing more than his hitmen. Way to go South Com. It's a joint command and since Admiral Halsey is stepping down the Deputy Commander is Air Force Lt. Gen. Evan L. Pettus. He's an Arkansas native.
Just because Halsey is stepping down it doesn't relieve him of responsibility for violations of international law and murder. Maybe he refused and that's why they forced him out.
I wonder if Pettus is now the white guy in charge? But there are many more officers along the chain of command responsible for carrying out these murders and each one better watch out because they can be prosecuted. Just following orders is no excuse.
