8. Why do they always use the phrase "melts down"?

Couldn’t they just say “Trump says something characteristically crazy that the media will sane-wash, for which he will suffer no consequences, which will be ignored by anyone who could do anything about it, and will be forgotten the next time he posts crazy shit”?

I wish he really would melt down. We could get a hazmat crew in to clean up the toxic sludge, and then we’d be rid of him for good.
