than there actually is, and reflexively discount the possibility it was actually just those two perverts abusing girls and young women. This simultaneously and neatly explains both why she's the one in jail for it, and also why she's not been 'offed' by this oft-posited powerful perverts cabal.

This is an Occam's Razor type of explanation that's worth considering at least, IMHO. And it's one that does not require believing that Biden's DoJ and the SDNY simply refused to go after all these powerful men because they were too cowed and/or corrupt to properly pursue justice in the huge criminal suit they brought against Maxwell.
