on March 7 my garden had temperatures in the mid 30's for several hours. Not low enough to damage my mango trees, but most of the flowers and small mangoes were killed. The unseasonably cold temperatures were due to a disruption in the polar vortex.

Another far more important worry is that the level of RuBisCo activase's heat tolerance is near the temperatures experienced in many grain growing areas. No RuBisCo, no photosynthesis, no grain harvest. Serial cereal harvest failures is something which will challenge humanity's survival. Scientists are working on increasing the heat tolerance. Who knows how this vital research will be affected by the current regime.
