This is why over a million deaths from Covid did not register with them Even having close friends and relatives die didn't budge their attitudes.

I would think a catastrophe of this magnitude would be a political disaster for whoever was president.

It wasn't, because they believe people who die from Covid die because they are weak. The strong people survived. That's the way it should be. No problem with a million deaths, just a culling of the weak.
