"A woman who dated Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner says he forced her to have sex with him nearly five years ago despite her repeated objections, an allegation Platner denies.
The woman, a 41-year-old Maine resident named Jenny Racicot, detailed the alleged incident to POLITICO in three interviews over the past two weeks. POLITICO also spoke with a man Racicot dated and confided in the years after the alleged incident, and reviewed documents, including emails between Racicot and her therapist and messages between Racicot and an acquaintance whom she warned against getting involved with Platner years before he ran for office."

(20,065 posts)I have been accused of being a "rape apologist" for expressing skepticism about this accusation. I am not a Platner fan. I believe any form of sexual assault is disqualifying. However, as more and more comes out about the "evidence" presented in support of this accusation of rape, the more I suspect it is part of a well-orchestrated series of political attacks, intended to take out a candidate that many in the Democratic establishment find objectionable.

(12,742 posts)Not everyone reacts the same way.
Sexual abuse in relationships creates a lot of gray area issues for the victims as it does in incest cases because it's so intrapersonal.
And therapists are legally bound by patient/doctor confidentiality.

(4,699 posts)thing I've learned is that there are some who think due process is for "me" not for thee. No police report, no text msgs reviewed by POLITICO, no production of DM -- no messages by accuser were produced for review by POLITICO --- IMO if you can't convince Mika Brezeniski that there exists any evidence to support Racicot's/POLITICO's claims maybe it's because there is no evidence to convict Platner, at least without first affording Platner due process.
TY for posting this video.
If Platner leaves the race I hope he files a civil suit against her and POLITICO. I'd like to see what group comes to their financial rescue.
One other thing: IIRC during the OJ trial the telephone company was forced to produce copies of telephone records going back years that they claimed did not exist. In Platner's case, would telephone records support the existence of Racicot's claims?
