Let's talk about a criticism and Trump's fundraising scandal.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about a criticism and Trump's fundraising scandal.
We're going to start today reading a criticism and then we're going to get to some totally unrelated news that definitely can't be informed by the message. Okay, here we go.
Belle, bringing up that manufactured story about Arlington to trash Trump undermines what is normally good reporting from you, even for a lib. It seems clear that Trump wasn't doing what the media said he was doing there. Trump's not polished. He shouldn't have worn the hat. But implying he would campaign on war dead is low, especially since there are so many conflicting reports about Arlington. I still like your perspective, but do better. Stick to the facts and your perspective, not media lies. I'll keep that under advisement.
In completely unrelated news, a fundraising email from a Trump linked PAC is continuing to be reported on by a few military outlets. It says, "This is President Donald J. Trump. I made a special announcement to the public an hour ago. For the very first time ever, I'm opening up spots on the National Security Briefing membership. Claim your spot.
The claim your spot bit is a link to donate and below that is a picture of Trump wearing his campaign merch hat at the dignified transfer with a casket in the foreground. Below that is another link to donate. That image is sandwiched between donation links. I'm going to suggest fundraising with a photo of a dignified transfer would count as campaigning on war dead. If you want to see the super classy email, it will be linked below.
When questioned about this, Trump dodged it better than he dodged Vietnam and said he hadn't seen it. I'm absolutely going to reserve my commentary on this, but I'll give you some quotes from others.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said, "Donald Trump is fundraising off of dead soldiers. He is a deeply sick and disgusting man."
The political director of the veterans advocacy group Common Defense said not a shred of dignity to be found anywhere in this administration.
Senator Andy Kim of New Jersey took a lighter jab saying, I hope the donor's national security briefing doesn't skip the Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz section that Trump and Hegseth missed.
Representative Mike Quigley of Illinois said, "Six more US service members died in Iran yesterday, but instead of honoring them, the president is profiting off their deaths. Whether it's neglecting to fly our flags half masked or refusing to take off his baseball cap, Trump will always show us he does not value the lives of those in uniform. May the fallen rest in peace.
At least 13 US service members have been killed since Trump started the Iran war on February 28th. The number of wounded is estimated to be around 150, but we aren't getting clear counts.
There is still no end to this in sight as Trump jokes about striking targets just for fun and is asking countries to send their navies into harm's way. while Iran is saying they haven't asked for a ceasefire and haven't asked to negotiate.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
