I highly recommend people read Cindy Cohn's new book Privacy's Defender -- My Thirty-Year Fight Against Digital Surveillance, part memoir and part legal history of EFF, which she grew from a ragtag group of lawyers and hackers into the powerful group it is today.

She shows how central digital privacy rights are central to all our other rights, including our ability to organize and make change in the world. I love her graphic map of the NSA's spying Upstream which she labels "our "Domestic Internet Backbone Surveillance". "

Cohn and Cory Doctorow
