The father wasn't interested in small children, the housekeeper had her hands full with her duties, so the only one to care for the younger ones was his eldest sister who was only around 12. Mary (a clinical psychologist) believes that neglect in his earliest years is responsible for his toxic self centeredness and his tendency towards bullying for the rest of his life.

(55,866 posts)Yes, Donald was denied his mother's attention and his father's affection, but he got money. And that is all he has ever cared about. Just like his own kids. They come from long line of psychopaths.
There are many orphans out there who never knew a parent's love, and didn't have any money, yet they did not become cruel narcissists.

(234,943 posts)And he tried to disinherit his remaining siblings - until his mother found out. He even sold his father's lucrative business at a loss, he was that desperate for money. So much for his reputation as a "successful businessman" - who's gone bankrupt six times.

I'm sure Mary T knows what she's talking about as far as the poor monster's childhood Psychological traumas..
But like you say.. Worse things have happened to so many kids and they don't turn into Soulless Vicious Mass Murderers. Yes, he knew he was killing people with Covid.. he didn't care. Just Politics.
How many times has he called out to his cult with not so subtle hints about eliminating his "enemies"?

(234,943 posts)I've listened to the first two (read by the author) in my car and recommend them highly. The whole family was required to show up at her grandparents' house for every holiday, plus she was close to her grandmother and aunts, so she has the inside family story.
