there will be a national election in 2026, and that's not a safe assumption. The administration will use every tool it can think of, legal or not, moral or not, deadly or not, to prevent them. I'm not assuming there won't be - there are too many people in the individual states , elected, appointed, and just citizens who will fight for them. In my state, Colorado, both my Secretary of State and my Attorney General are tigers. But not every state has that. I am far from perfect, but I am not evil enough to imagine all the ploys the administration will come up with, so I really can't predict. But I'm confident they will pull out all the stops.

And I have family in Colorado and my closest cousin is freaking out since Lauren Boebert switched districts and is now her new Rep.

It's even redder than mine, although mine is the only district in Colorado which has never sent a Democrat to Congress since we achieved statehood in 1876. (Although in 1876 the Republicans were nowhere near as awful as they are now.)

My cousin was freaking out just when Boebert announced her intentions, I never imagined she'd win. I have Liz Cheney's book and Boebert was accused by her fellow Reps. of communicating with the insurrectionists on January 6th, updating them on what was going on including that Speaker Pelosi had been evacuated.

She has two young daughters and the eldest is still freaked about the shooting drills in school. Awhile back, my cousin's good friend got a deal on a house because it's across the street from Columbine.
