Suns fire coach Mike Budenholzer after one season

After missing the NBA playoffs and play-in tournament with the largest payroll in league history, the Phoenix Suns have fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, the team announced Monday.

"Competing at the highest level remains our goal, and we failed to meet expectations this season. Our fans deserve better. Change is needed," the team said in a statement.

The Suns since firing Monty Williams have been tough to watch. At least last season they were competitive until they were swept by Minnesota. The depth around Durant & Booker isn't very good since they traded Ayton & Paul. I would have liked to see Durant & Booker would do if they had at least 1 or 2 of those players. The Suns got Nurkic & Grayson Allen for Ayton. Nurkic is no longer on the team and their point guards they got before this season who supposedly had good assist to turnover ratios but didn't improve things at all. I would have at least played Bol Bol more often, he seems like he has the potential of a Wembenyama because of his size and the things he can do but he doesn't get much playing time for whatever reason. I would fire a coach for that decision alone for not playing Bol Bol enough.

I don't think the Suns though should keep firing coaches after 1 season and not winning a title. I would have just kept Monty Williams--losing to Denver in 6 games which was the team won the title didn't seem like a good reason to fire him.
