Sean Penn to direct January 6 drama with Bradley Cooper set to star

Oscar-winning actor to write and direct fact-based movie that will follow a police officer mixed up in 2021 Capitol riot

The as-yet-untitled drama will follow the life of a police officer who gets mixed up in the violent insurrection of 2021. Cooper is reportedly in talks to play him.

The film has also been referred to as an “unexpected story about friendship” that will be made in collaboration with the real-life subject whose identity is being kept hidden for now.

Penn attended a January 6 House committee hearing in 2022, describing himself as “just another citizen” who was there to observe.

“I think we all saw what happened on January 6, and now we’re looking to see if justice comes on the other side of it,” he said.

Penn has also previously referred to Donald Trump as “an enemy of mankind” and a “narcissist”.

Who is releasing the film? Probably not Paramount.

There is a Aaron Sorkin film The Social Reckoning about similar events to be released by Columbia.
