Owl chicks getting ready to fledge

This is the 5th year in a row we've had western screech owls nesting in the owl box in our backyard. By our count, that's a total of 9 fledglings sent into the wide, wide world. This year's chicks are set to fledge. They probably will want to hurry up; it was 107° according to our patio thermometer this afternoon in mid-town Tucson.

We have a barred owl nest in our woods and we love hearing the adults teach the owlets how to hoot.

8. Can't look into it, it's not high but too distant to see.
