Mourning doves in the rain (this morning)

The drops are plainly visible on the bird's wing feathers. Quite a feat, if you ask me!

2. the picture on my bird food bag shows all kinds of exotics

but my most faithful are a group of mourning doves.....I have come to appreciate them

5. I've always been fascinated by the illusion that the doves are throwing their voices

Their cooing sometimes seems to come from a room I'm in, while the doves are likely calling from an eave or a nearby tree. When I was a child their cooing sounded exotic to me; like something I'd heard in a Tarzan movie.
