The honeymoon phase is over for quarterback Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. Purdy agreed to a contract extension that makes him one of the richest players in NFL history, Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein confirmed Friday. He reportedly landed a five-year, $265 million deal with the team, ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported.

It's a monumental pay raise over the rookie salary Purdy made his first three years in the league as a seventh-round draft pick, which paid him an average of $934,000 annually.
The new deal makes Purdy among the highest paid in the league. It will earn him around $53 million per season, which is in line with Jared Goff and Tua Tagovailoa. Only a handful of quarterbacks in the NFL earn more than him per season. Purdy's deal also includes $181 million in guaranteed money.

(17,814 posts)Hes better than some higher-priced QBs.
If the front office bolsters the offensive line, hell show his true potential, though Mister Photobomb Brock Purdy with a fucking MAGA hat Nick Bosa, is in my opinion THE BOSA CURSE and the 49ers wont win another Lombardi until hes defending Trump against alligators in Merde A Lago.
Id trade him for that 747, but Im not G.M.

(32,293 posts)factor in the free agency losses of Dre Greenlaw and a few other veterans the 49ers made low-ball offers to, plus the free agents they couldn't afford to add, just to plan for Purdy.
That O-line is the 49ers Achilles' heel.
