Does anyone use a TENS unit, and have a brand recommendation?
I've been using an AUVON, which worked well, until it stopped working. Lasted about six months. Granted, it was a cheap one.
I'm having a real problem with my right hip. I've had two cortisone injections in it now, and another appointment next week. Xrays show nothing but a little age related calcium buildup on both hip joints.
Its really cramping my style. I have stuff to do!

(11,247 posts)TENS 7000. That is the only name on the unit.
I got it back around 2008 from workmans comp.
I have very bad lower back issues. It still works great and I use it a lot. And I recommend to one big butterfly patch instead of positioning 4 pads.
The VA gave me one last year, an Ultima 5. It works OK but the TENS has a little more kick.
Once I let my daughter use the TENS at the bar she worked at, she let the owner try it, then he bought her AND him one. So it was not hard to find.
I just had injections 2 weeks ago, hoping I get a few years from relief from that.
But I use the units on my back, my hip, shoulders, sometime a neck crimp.
Its a gift from Gawd. Good luck, I think they make my life better and I treasure them both.
One 9 volt battery to operate both and it will last 7-9 hours or so.

But don't underestimate the value of stretching. We all hear it (and honestly, mostly all ignore it), but with hip pain, it REALLY can make a difference. (I know, having lived 26 years with a horrendous ankle injury suffered on the day of Columbine, so I do remember, and which has put tremendous contralateral pressure on my opposite hip.)
Here's a good article with routines to get you started:

(25,289 posts)That pretty much hits everything, including hips. I also have a percussive massage gun, but this seems to be nerve related, so the gun just aggravates it.
This started last month when I tried to lift the big riding mower off a major tree root by myself. Yeah, yeah, I know, but I've done it many times before.
