Related: About this forumWent home from the hospital a year ago today
After an unexpected heart attack and consequent bypass surgery.
First few weeks of recovery were tough but after a year I'm feeling much better. Walking 4 or 5 miles a day, eating smart, and counting myself fortunate.
Nothing profound to say, really, I just wanted to mark the day somehow.

(72,509 posts)I am impressed with how much you walk every day!
That is great. I am only able to do 2 to 3 miles per day.
Enjoy your day.

(26,374 posts)4-5 miles a day?! Awesome! Something tells me you may have a furry friend accompanying you, egging you on?
That's a lotta consistency1!

My last furry friend (a sweet beagle) passed a few years ago and we're not emotionally ready for another one just yet. But someday.

(36,000 posts)Two days earlier, I had jogged 3 miles. Then that afternoon, I was feeling really tired. My SO, an RN came over, took my pulse and told me to put on my coat we are going to the ER.
I knew I had Bradycardia, a slow pulse. My normal was 45 beats per minute. Not terrible, just something to keep an eye on. Well, that day it had dropped to 28 beats per minute. That is stroke territory.
After two days in the hospital, I came home with a pacemaker and two days later I ran another 3 miles. Doctor said KEEP doing that and kiss your nurse..
Best of luck and keep moving. I'm 72 and retired. My friends that retired and laid on the couch and watched the boob tube are now dead.
