Cuba's Sugar Crash - Joe Blogs
In this video I provide an update on the situation in CUBA and take a detailed look at the SUGAR Industry. 100 years ago Cuba was the world's largest exporter of sugar and remained in the top 5 producers until the 1980's. However the industry started to decline after the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991 and over the past 30 years the production levels have plummeted which has lead to am associated reduction in income. Alongside the problems in the sugar industry the Cuban Rum industry is now also experiencing problems. Cuban brands are some of the most famous and sought after rums in the world but the decline in the sugar industry is now also affecting these businesses as they need to use genuine Cuban Sugar and there is no longer enough to go around.
