Less than an hour ago, this little one was born. And it is now resting under the brush in the corner of the picture.
Mom has wandered away, which is typical. She will be back soon.
We are on the watch!!!
This is where I was working on a post when two deer walked into my yard in the middle of town.
When I returned to my computer, the post I was going to start didn't even have a finished title, so it became the post you see.
I took 10 minutes away from the family to share this RARE event. In the 40+ years I have lived here in northern Wisconsin, this is the first time I have seen a newborn Fawn with its mom.
I was surprised to find it locked 7 hours later.

My appeal:
Reason: Seriously! The Way Forward forum offered some broad discretion on topics. In a world we all see crumbling before our eyes, you see fit to lock a real opportunity to shine the promise of new life, less than an hour old. I am very disappointed in such a negative attitude. You deprived people, fellow Democrats, who are tired of constant doom and gloom on DU. I am disappointed. Seventy-eight people enjoyed my gift to DUuntil someone stops the enjoyment.
I tried to share this rare opportunity for people who NEVER GET TO SEE THE SIGN OF SPRING EVER IN THEIR DAILY LIVES.
I WOULD EXPECT THIS FROM THE TRUMP FOLLOWERS BUT DU DEMOCRATS NEVER
I'm sorry, it wasn't Political in nature, and it wasn't negatively Political in nature. It was just NATURE.

(5,825 posts)For that. ( although it is beautiful in the north) I live in Kenosha and one morning my neighbor was ringing my doorbell and told me to look out my back window. There were 4 deer just hanging around in my backyard. They jumped the fence and stayed. They did eventually leave and the news covered them when they were seen in the old Chrysler plant area making their way down to the lake. I think they ended up in the woods by Carthage College.
Your pictures are beautiful. I always wanted to move up by Bayfield. I hear there is a liberal coterie up there and an arts community.

(7,304 posts)the southwest corner around Darlington is pretty cool also. I sort of have my eye on Viroqua. I could also take New Glarus. Years ago I wanted to go for a 6 week college summer course on the Red Cliff Reservation up on Lake Superior that was all about living like it was 200 years ago. No phones no modern anything. Catch and gather what you eat and learn the tribal ceremonies etc. A few years back I told the story here about my encounter with one of these fellows pictured below in the Chequamegon National Forest that was one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of my life.

Reminds me of the amazement I had when I encountered a whooping crane in the wild while hiking. Had never been so close to anything with such an enormous wing span.

(7,304 posts)for me. I had been driving along on an overcast morning and was all alone going through the Chequamegon. Sort of lost in my thoughts of my life. I was just driving about 50mph or so when I spotted something that looked like a tall stump in the middle of the road. As I got close I suddenly realized it was an eagle. I hit the brakes and came to a stop while looking in my mirrors to see if there was anybody behind me.
But when I looked back through the windshield the eagle was gone. So I slowly started up again and kept rolling easy while "coming to" from what had just happened. Suddenly I looked out my side window and the eagle was now flying along my side so close I could've reached out and touched it. His head was even with my window and at the same level as me. I was immediately struck and highly emotional to have such a beautiful experience. He kept flying with me for bout a half mile before he was suddenly gone. I looked around but didn't spot him again. It was a deeply spiritual impact for me and it took miles for me to stop crying. I was so happy and had such a wonderful feeling of peace.

(2,939 posts)I have heard that it happened in the great purge of 2015, it appears that some of those folks found the moderators to be very thin-skinned. Just quoting not criticizing or agreeing you understand.
