Candlelight Vigil tonight 12/17

Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane Co. to hold vigil after Madison school shooting

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County (BGCDC) will host a candlelight vigil Tuesday as the community heals from the school shooting at a Madison Christian school.

BGCDC said the vigil will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Vel Phillips Statue on State Capitol grounds. BGCDC CEO Michael Johnson said community members are invited to come together, reflect and support one another at the gathering.

“As an organization dedicated to serving youth and families, we feel it is our responsibility to step forward and create spaces for connection and healing,” Johnson said. “This vigil is one way we can stand with our community and show that we are here to support them during this unimaginable time.”

Johnson will be at the vigil, as well as Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent Dr. Joe Gothard, End Times Ministries International Bishop Godfrey Stubbs, United Way CEO Renee Moe, and CEO of Focused Interruption Anthony Cooper. The organization said it also plans to offer safe spaces to those who need mental health resources, in the long-term and short-term.

Until then, leave plenty of open space in your schedule for more such vigils.

I just wish the only people whose 3 year old murders a 5 year old, or whose kids die or are maimed in a school shooting, I wish only those who fervently support Guns! Guns! Guns! would be the only ones affected.

If only the gun worshippers were effected the situation would change overnight. Unfortunately that's not the case, and this will continue, unabated, forever.
