Maverick Gaming closes 2 casinos in the county, more than 100 laid off
EVERETT Washington-based entertainment company Maverick Gaming will close two of its Snohomish County casinos next month, resulting in more than 100 layoffs.
This comes after Maverick Gaming, which operates cardrooms and casinos across multiple states, filed last year for Chapter 11 protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, according to the regional companys press release. Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code typically provides for the reorganization of a company.
On May 27, Maverick Washington LLC notified the states Employment Security Department that on July 31 it will permanently close Crazy Moose Casino Mountlake Terrace and Silver Dollar Casino Mill Creek, according to filings in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) layoff and closure database.
Maverick Gaming did not respond to The Daily Heralds request for comment Wednesday.
