Kirkland-based casino operator closing 4 WA sites amid bankruptcy

Kirkland-based Maverick Gaming filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday, according to documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Texas.

The filing listed the company’s total assets and liabilities in the range of $100 million to $500 million.

The privately held casino and card-room operator — which is led by CEO and co-founder Eric Persson — also announced plans to close four of its Puget Sound-area sites: Dragon Tiger Casino in Mountlake Terrace, Palace Casino in Lakewood, Silver Dollar Casino Renton and Roman Casino in Seattle.

It is not clear when the four locations will close or whether those closures will lead to layoffs.
