Primary ballots to be mailed out this week in Yakima County

The process of winnowing the field of candidates for the November election will start this week.

Yakima County’s election office will be sending out ballots for the Aug. 5 primary this week. The ballots, which must be signed on the outside envelope, must be either returned to a ballot box or postmarked by 8 p.m. Aug. 5 to be counted.

In eight of the nine races on the ballot, the top two winners will advance to the November election.

All the Yakima Herald-Republic's coverage will be posted online in our elections section.
