Mukilteo approves 84-acre annexation east of Speedway
EVERETT After years of efforts, the Mukilteo City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Monday annexing a section of land east of Mukilteo Speedway.
The approximately 84-acre area includes a section of properties between Mukilteo Speedway and Beverly Park Road just south of Paine Field. About 111 people live there in 26 residences, according to a city memo, and most of the area is zoned and developed for commercial or industrial use.
The city annexed the properties due to the proximity to Mukilteos fire and police services, as well as city roads.
Many people are surprised to learn that when they dine at, for example, the Mukilteo Speedway Café, theyre actually outside city limits, Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine wrote in a release Tuesday. Given how often our residents visit these businesses and how frequently our emergency services already respond to calls there, it simply makes sense to bring this area officially into Mukilteo.
