Bellevue College breaks ground on $54 million arts hub

Bellevue College has started construction on a 56,618-square-foot building that will serve as a hub for its arts department.

The school held a groundbreaking ceremony last week for the $54 million facility, which will expand the campus’s footprint in southeast Bellevue to more than 1 million square feet.

“With a dedicated space for art and creative technology, we’re creating an environment where imagination is the limit,” the college's president, David May, said in a news release. “This building reflects the evolving needs of our students and region, and I’m thankful to everyone who has had a part in making it a reality.”

The W Building will be a mix of remodeled space and new construction on the west side of campus. Around 6,100 square feet on the north side the 57-year-old C Building will be demolished for the project, and another 23,038 square feet of the structure will be remodeled. A new addition will have 33,580 square feet.
