Early voting in SA's runoff election starts Tuesday. Here's where you can cast a ballot.
SAN ANTONIO City Councilman John Courage kick-started San Antonio's mayoral race when he announced his campaign in January 2024.
Now, 27 candidates and 16 months later, we're nearing the finish line.
When voters head to the polls for the runoff election, they'll see that a lengthy list of contenders has been whittled down to two: Gina Ortiz Jones (D) and Rolando Pablos (R), who finished ahead of the pack as the top two vote-getters on May 3. She was appointed the Air Force under secretary by then-President Joe Biden and he served as Texas secretary of state for two years under Gov. Greg Abbott.
Now the two bring their head-to-head matchup into the runoff election amid a spate of final debatesforums where Ortiz Jones has vouched for expanding Pre-K 4 SA and shoring up public education while Pablos touts his economic development bona fides and infrastructure improvement priorities. Whoever wins will become the first mayor without City Council experience since Phil Hardberger was elected in 2005.
