SC-TREAS: SC Treasurer Curtis Loftis (R) to run for re-election
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will run for re-election in 2026.
Loftis, a Republican who has held the role since assuming office in 2011, made the announcement Friday.
“Serving as State Treasurer has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” he said in a statement. “I’m grateful for the trust South Carolinians have placed in me, and I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished together. But there is still more to do.”
The announcement also comes after Loftis was embroiled in a state investigation regarding a mystery $1.8 billion surplus that an outside audit determined was nonexistent and the result of a years-long accounting error.
