Officials help bull elk stranded in ice in Manhattan pond

MANHATTAN, Mont. — On Sunday, four bull elk got stranded in ice in a small pond in Manhattan on Heeb Road.

Officers and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wardens received a tip around 8 a.m.

Officials utilized a helicopter in assisting after ice breaking materials did not fully work.

A Will Jacobs Central Helicopter Co. helicopter arrived around 3:30 p.m. and helped the bull elk to safety in roughly 10 minutes.
