Municipal Election Day Tuesday

Tuesday will be the only scheduled election of the year in Missouri with the Municipal Elections taking place throughout the state.

Issues take center stage in many areas of the Lakes Region including in the City of Branson, which has no contested Municipal Races but does have he renewal of the ½ Cent Transportation Tax that was first approved in 1991 and renewed in 2005. According to information released by the city, the tax generates nearly $7.5 million per year to go to road improvements.

Other ballot issues in the Lakes Region include a Tourism Tax that is going before voters in most of southern Stone County while there is also an Internet Use Tax Issue being considered by voters in the City of Forsyth. The Village of Saddlebrook which is in parts of Taney and Christian Counties, will also consider an Internet Use Tax. Other ballot issues in the region include a Marijuana Tax in Reeds Spring, a Capital Improvement Sales Tax in Galena, and a Waterworks and Sewer Bond Issue in Branson West.

While Branson Mayor Larry Milton is running unopposed for a third term in office, contested Mayor Races in the Lakes Region will take place in Forsyth, Merriam Woods, Reeds Spring, and Rockaway Beach. There will be contested Aldermen Races in Galena and Hollister.

Several School Districts have contested Board of Education Races including Blue Eye, Bradleyville, Crane, Forsyth, Hurley, Mark Twain, Reeds Spring, and Taneyville. The Central Taney and Southern Stone County Protection Fire Districts will be among those with contested board races.
