Easthampton holds special election on 2.5 override measure

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Easthampton is holding a special local election on Tuesday to vote on an important budget question.

Residents will decide on a Proposition two one/two override aimed at closing a budget gap in the city.

The proposed Proposition two one/two override seeks to raise $6.9 million for the city. If the full amount is approved and utilized, it would result in an estimated annual increase of roughly $1,100 for the average Easthampton home, valued at $418,000.

Easthampton Mayor Salem Derby stated that residents will incur costs for services regardless of the override’s outcome.
