One hell of a shaker just now

I'm on the Oakland/San Leandro border, and it shook like crazy for a couple of seconds.

USGS says it was 3.2. It had to be really close to me, and it went on long enough that I had time to worry about taking cover.

I lived through Loma Prieta and the Oakland Hills fire. I'll take earthquakes any day over fires.

That's from movies. The ground shakes. Things fall over, which can be very dangerous, but most buildings are fine. I'd rather deal with earthquakes than fires.

10. They feel a lot stronger when you're on top of them ...

lot of people who experience earthquakes feel them from miles away. They have no clue. I was on top of a 6.0 not long ago. Shook like crazy.
