One of my all-time fav songs & now you've gifted us with the perfect image to accompany the song.

I’m a Michigan transplant to Florida. I had had it with overcast sky. My delightfully small apt. has an equally small lanai which faces due east. I get to watch the sunrises and changing clouds overhead as well as the giant thunderstorms in the middle of the state. Great displays at night. All my life I promised myself I would watch the clouds NEXT year after I took care of things THIS year.
I’m one of the lucky ones who actually got to do what I promised myself.

I don't doubt that they were that powerful.

Did you set your camera to render "vivid"?
I often set mine to "landscape", (This is Nikon terminology) to give some added oomph to a photo that looks flatter than what I saw.

That will definitely wake you up faster than a double coffee.

Nice, really nice.

Pardon the tech talk. If I don't spend an hour a day taking photos, I consider it a drab day, and the lilies are going bonkers this time of year. And the mule-ear daisies are ready to pop. I have a whole hillside full of them.

Hey, the real world is pretty damn spectacular.

I am just a bit more conservative in the punch department, unless my sunrise/sunset is vast, in which case there’s less separation between bright and less bright areas, so I let it rip.

I shot a lot of Fujichrome film over time. I found it very well balanced. OTOH, I have an Agfachrome that shines right through the slide box (almost).

I never loaded the fancy Nikon software because when I got the first mirrorless because at the time, it required a major OS update, so I got used to the simple Apple Preview app (which does a great job on the jpegs) and never felt the need for RAW apps like Raw Therapee or Dark Table. Or Nikon’s. Gimp now and then. Having a light “curve” and the ability to heal (power wires) and work on selected areas handles my tough cases.

That means that I never loaded “film curves”, though I am really intrigued by a “Fujichrome” rendition of the raw file. Next item on my list to explore.

You might be interested in Ken Rockwell’s site. He offers tons of technical data, but his photos are super-saturated. I grew up admiring the work of Ansel Adams, no saturation at all!!!

He makes his money on referral sales at the major sites. All except Amazon are reputable. But it means that there’s more praise than disparagement;

But there’s tons of data and sample photos.
