(153,511 posts)It was spectacular! The photo of the moon and Venus was more or less a joke, but I did capture it.
Glad you enjoyed my work.

(125,694 posts)summers at a cottage where there was little light pollution and the milky way was like a dome on clear nights. We had a rotating star chart but other than the dippers and the north star I could never identify the stars or planets. The moon's reflection path came right up to our dock on some nights. I still miss it.

(153,511 posts)Alas, I grew up in urban areas where there was a lot of light pollution. Someday I might get to see the Milky Way.

(7,752 posts)With my phone camera zoomed and it picked up a fuzzie image at 1 oclock from Venus. I presume it is Adromada. I had no idea a phone camera could pick it up. The image was taken at 5:35 at f1.8 for 1/20 sec. The picture quality is poor but definitely visible. I just dont know how to copy and paste to DU.

(153,511 posts)It was fun after I was done shooting!
The moon was so small and of course, it was starting to set. So I was having some trouble catching it and getting a good focus.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I had several really good shots. That first moon did not need any post-production editing. That's how it looked, as it came out of the camera! That's rare for me.
The third moon did have some post-processing, just enough to bring out the craters more sharply. That's typical for me!
And some nights, I set up and right away get any number of fantastic shots! You just never know!

(153,511 posts)That fuzzy white blob! I took the photo mostly as a joke. It's too small to really see.

I hope you get out to a desert sometime so you can take some pics of the exquisite milky way.. I think it was made for you and your camera. Breath taking. Like these.

(153,511 posts)They are also harder to capture due to their extreme smallness! I did have to work for these and it was worth it!
