I wonder if the person who assembled this AI image included the year 1977 for the fashion choices. That would have been appropriate, since that was the year 'Star Wars' debuted.

I don't remember seeing them in the '80's. They would undoubtedly been derided as making the wearer look poor. But in the '70's, they were everywhere.
