Hayley Moore faces down a galloping race horse and brings it to a full stop
The rider had been thrown off whist training, and the horse - wearing blinders - was panicked and not stopping.
From the many comments, this explains it well...
The real danger is heat exhaustion. This horse had already run about 4 miles, the stewards couldn't catch him and it was a warm day (for the UK anyway, lol). His body temp must've been very high, this means he could've dehydrated and suffered heat exhaustion, and yes that can kill a horse.
These horses are trained to run, they don't know when they've had enough. It's like when you see marathon runners wobbling and falling over the finish line, they've pushed their bodies too far and are exhausted.
Hope that explains it a bit better.
Haley, who btw is not just a presenter, she is an equestrian and her Dad is a trainer (and her three brothers are jockeys), she just wanted to stop the horse to get it cooled down.
The sooner this animal is cooled down, the better.

( this also explains why she was so quick to remove the saddle )
