Started doing this as a kid and I can still do it. When my niece and nephew were very young and started acting up and wouldn't behave I'd turn my eyelids inside out. It scared the crap out of them and they'd settle down. After that, whenever they wouldn't behave I'd threaten to make my "monster eyes" and they'd behave.

Chocolate covered peanuts, and put the nuts back in the can on the buffet. Afew days later, our daughter and her fiance stopped by while they were riding a motorcycle. My husband and I were rearranging the back bedroom and didn't immediately come out to the living room to greet them. When we did come out, they were eating the peanuts from the can my Mom had left on the buffet. We were mortified. I managed to get the nuts put away and give them something else. You know, like the sound a pig makes or that some people make when they laugh too hard. I try and try and I just can't do it. Years ago, I had a boyfriend who would laugh every time I tried because I tried so hard. But that damage was externally caused. It eventually healed.

Nowadays, I can snap my right okay, but my left can be slow to work, or just won't work. What I have pretty much lost is my ability to play guitar. I just cannot hold the strings down for the entire length of a song anymore, or I cannot move them fast enough.

I can tell when someone just passing by me has a sinus infection. Seriously.
I can smell water. So, I usually know about a leak before it presents itself.
I think my son has the same thing,
When he was little, he and his best friend had identical Batman costumes that they wore ALL the time. Occasionally they would take them off. Then, when he wanted to find his , and put it back on, he’d smell them both and say, “yep, that’s mine!”.
I have to buy everything unscented as smells can overwhelm me.

On balance, if you don't mind me asking, is your heightened sense a positive thing or problematic?

My dear departed first wife lost her sense of smell from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Once a year or so, though, a flower's fragrance would come through, and it was a cause for great joy.

Positive thing than a negative one.
The only thing negative is when there are lots of smells together in one place such as the first floor of a department store with all of the perfumes or the candle section of a novelty shop….a mixture of smells is tough. I didn’t realize for the longest time that everyone didn’t smell to the degree I do. So, it seems normal to me.
